Kinda like Woodstock

PERKINS TWP. — About 400,000 to 500,000 of today's Baby Boomers celebrated their age and their counter-cultural values by attending Woodstock on Aug. 15-18, 1969. It is estimated that the average age of a Woodstock-goer is 75 years old today. Senior Fest 2025 is a celebration that is kind of like Woodstock. Here we celebrate age and values, too. But it is not just for the Baby Boomer Generation (1946 to 1964): It is a celebration for all people of older age, including the Silent Generation (1928 to 1945) and the Greatest Generation (1901 to 1927). According to Wikipedia, in 2024, there were 66,000 of the 16 million Americans who served in World War II were still living. This entertaining event puts older age put on display, demonstrating a newer, truer, positive image of what it really means to be "older." Produced by Serving Our Seniors in collaboration with the Erie County Fair Board, Senior Fest is brought to life by fun people with an entertaining spirit. Matt Westerhold will be the master of ceremonies. It will begin with the presentation of the American flag, courtesy of the American Legion Post 83 and VFW Post 2529. Cathy Dickerson will sing the national anthem. Those who attend will be amused by the work of Nancy Dellisanti, Senior Fest producer, and the creative talents of Joe Ann Bonner, Joe Hayberger, Linda and Paul Atkinson, Don Hall, Debby Ray, Diane Bradley, Shay White, Chester and Beth Williams, Bill Olejniczak and Karen Westgate. Together they have planned a fun-tastic Senior Fest 2025 filled with musical skits, dancing and songs of yester-year. Those who attend will enjoy a total of 21 acts, which include, but not limited to: • Ain't Got Nobody (skit) performed by Joe Hayberger • Respect (skit) performed by Joe Ann Bonner • Dance performance by The Moving Co. • The Supremes played by Chester Williams, Jim Jackson and Matt Westerhold, singing "Baby Live" • Texas Hold'em (skit) played by Wendy Boyer, Shay White, Pam Hall, Dianna Hearn and other surprise performers. • USA Dance Club includes audience dance participation • Nine to Five (skit) by Kate Volz, Diane Bradley and Debbie Ray. • Billie Jean (skit) starring Anthony Pool and a surprise performer • Beat the Clock • Sandusky High School cheerleaders • You Look Wonderful Tonight – (skit) starring Chester Williams, Beth Williams, Joe Ann Bonner, Debby Ray, Diane Bradley, Linda Atkinson and others. • The Beachball Race • Just A Numb3r Dance Team – All ages 60 and better A complimentary lunch, prepared by Berardi's Family Kitchen, is served at noon, while Mojo Mix performs a one-hour classic rock concert. Immediately after, compliments of the Erie County Fair board, is another concert by "The Legends of Rock" – Elvis Presley and John Lennon 1-4 p.m. This special event takes place Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at the Erie County Fairgrounds, 3110 Columbus Ave., Building 1 in Perkins Township. Doors open at 9 a.m. Festivities start at 10 a.m. Admission is free. Doors open at 9 a.m. and festivities begin at 10 a.m. All seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Seating is limited to the first 250 people. Only those age 60 or better may attend. Sorry, no grandchildren.
