PREP ROUNDUP: Lady Red open with win; Danbury's Evans earns medalist honors

BELLEVUE — The Bellevue girls golf team opened its season with a tri-match win over St. Mary Central Catholic and Vermilion at Twin Lakes Golf Course on Monday. The Lady Red shot a 205. Mariska Manning led Bellevue with a 48 while Ava Meyer carded a 50. Addison Miller added a 51 and Taylor Waldrup shot a 56. Isabelle Smith led Vermilion (240) with a 55 while Payton Buchs tallied a 58. Colleen Traut (63) and Joscelyn Alvarado (64) rounded out the scoring for the Sailors. The Panthers did not field a full team. Alexis Langenberg led SMCC with a 54 while Emma Redinger carded a 66. Lexie Herzog added a 71. Clyde takes 2nd at Lake Invite WOODVILLE — Clyde finished second to Genoa at the Lake Invitational at Hidden Hills Golf Club. The Fliers shot 400 as a team with Sam Young's 88 leading the way. Sienna Turner (101), Addie Siedenburg (102) and Claire Collins (109) rounded out the scoring for Clyde. Danbury took third with a team total of 411. The Lakers were led by Miranda Evans' medalist round of 85. Also for Danbury, Ashley Lewis carded a 95 while Addie Rader (114) and Brilynne Sloan (117) also competed. The Lakers opened the season last week with a second-place finish at the Royal Open hosted by Elmwood at Birch Run Golf Club. Evans tallied a 46 to pace Danbury. Margaretta was fourth with a 447 on Monday. Ellyse Schaefer topped the Polar Bears with a 94 while Ellaynah Schaefer added a 102. Edison 185, Norwalk 199 HURON — Annabelle Seville shot a 37 to lead Edison to a win over Norwalk at Thunderbird North. Leah Sharp added a 45 for the Chargers while Ella Rogers (50) and Lilly Davis (53) rounded out the winner's scoring. Evelyn Welschenbach and Catherine Beamer led Norwalk with 47s. Adyson Lepley (52) and Emerson Ulery (53) finished out the Truckers' scoring. St. Paul 243, Willard 249 NORWALK — The Flyers opened the season with a six-stroke win over Willard at Eagle Creek Golf Course. Alia Bogard led St. Paul with a 58 while Aubrey Dilger and Ava Englert each shot a 61. Jillian Weilnau rounded out the scoring for the Flyers with a 63. BOYS GOLF Penton makes hole-in-one OBERLIN — Vermilion junior Noah Penton drilled a hole-in-one at Oberlin Country Club at the Amherst Comet Invitational, finishing his round with a top-10 score of 79. Penton's ace was the first of his high school career. It was from 150 yards out and bounced once before a short roll into the front pin location. Vermilion tallied a 336 as a team. Adam Gerber was right behind Penton with an 82 while Sam Riddle shot an 86. Jackson Fahr added an 89 for the Sailors.
