Jim Brown, Princess Diana focus of library events

MILAN — August is packed with cool reads, sweet treats and creative feats — and those at the Milan-Berlin Library District want people to come join in on all the fun. The district is offering a full calendar of engaging programs with events for children, teens and adults at both the Milan and Berlin Heights branches as well as through its Bookmobile services. Here are some featured events happening this month: In Berlin Heights, 4 E. Main St., Berlin Heights Pop-Up Cafe: Fabulous Fruit Desserts • What: Enjoy homemade sweets and community conversation at this monthly cafe event. • When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 9 In Milan, 19 E. Church St., Milan Bubble Tea and Book Talks • What: Teens and adults can sip bubble tea while chatting about books in a relaxed setting. • When: 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 16Nailed It! Melon Carving Contest • What: Tweens and teens can test their snack-sculpting skills in this creative challenge. Registration is required. • When: 6-6:45 p.m. Aug. 21 Paul Brown: The Father of Modern Football • What: Attendees can discover the legacy of Norwalk native and football legend Paul Brown in this engaging presentation • When: Noon to 1 p.m. on Aug. 23 Diana, Princess of Wales • What: People can explore the life and legacy of Princess Diana with British historian Julie Koenig • When: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 27 In addition to these highlights, the library offers weekly preschool storytimes, 10:30 a.m. on Fridays in Milan; stay-and-play sessions, 10:30 a.m. on Mondays in Berlin Heights; book clubs, do-it-yourself workshops, tech help and more. The district's bookmobile will also make stops in Castalia, Bennett Pointe and Schoepfle Garden throughout the month.
