MARGARETTA • Following the 2024-25 school year, Margaretta Schools announced three more retirees and their years of service: — Beth Steager-Burkett, elementary teacher, 35 years — Teal Balduff, elementary teacher, 32 years; Balduff will return to work for the district in the 2025-26 school year. — Vickie Bluhm, custodian, 19 years Superintendent Ed Kurt said these retirees are all valued and have tremendous dedication and devotion to the district. EDISON • Edison's high school basketball coaches hosted middle school students for a basketball camp. The athletes worked on fundamentals, perfecting skills and and got tips from the older players on the high school teams. NORWALK CATHOLIC SCHOOL • Norwalk Catholic School's Teen Leadership Corps sent students to Glasgow, Scotland, with the help of the Geotrac Foundation. The organization sends 10 local students on a cultural and refugee awareness trip. Two of those students were Charlotte Hosack and Ethan Denman from St. Paul High School. Students spent their days listening to stories from refugees running from their homes during wartime, religious persecution and economic hardship. They also took tours exploring Scotland's history and culture. • Norwalk Catholic Schools' annual golf outing took place at Eagle Creek Golf Course. The dollars raised went toward the school's annual fund. • St. Paul's football team traveled to the Wilson Football Factory in Ada, Ohio, for a team bonding event. Students saw how footballs are made from start to end. They also met with Coach Andy Fries from Ohio Northern University and toured the school's football facilities and campus. EHOVE CAREER CENTER • EHOVE staff volunteered at last month's Ironman 70.3 Ohio race in Sandusky. Daniel Langdon, EHOVE's welding and fabrication instructor, participated in the race as a team runner. He was with Andrew Gundlach from Gundlach Sheet Metal, who rode bike, and his college roommate, Nate Stetler, who swam. • EHOVE students qualified to attend national competitions through their performances at the state level. Liam Fleming, from Vermilion High School and EHOVE's diesel tech program, traveled to Georgia for the SkillsUSA National competition. EHOVE's education and family careers students, Alyssa Protzman from Margaretta, Kali Kirby from St. Paul High School and Alexandrea Lattea from New London competed in Educators Rising Nationals in Florida. BELLEVUE • Carver Shelley from Bellevue Schools lined County Road 292 with flags on Wednesday for Lorain police Officer Philip Wagner's funeral procession. He helped his dad and grandfather with the flags.
