Enjoying lunch with linemen

NEW LONDON — In late July, the New London-based Firelands Electric Cooperative hosted the winners of its 2025 Lunch with a Lineman Contest. To qualify, area students needed to complete and submit a pre-approved safety activity as overseen by the cooperative. "Emmet Mitchell, Caleb Rector and Rebekah LaGoy were treated to an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the tools and equipment used by our linemen," according to a company statement. "Firelands' Chris Kent, Jake White and Evan Clemons helped the students try on safety equipment, test out tools, check out a bucket truck and learn about pole-climbing," it added. "Students and their adult guests were treated to a pizza lunch with the three linemen to wrap up the event."
