Pop out to park's new office

PORTAGE TWP. — In late July, many people — including those representing the Ottawa County Improvement Corp. — came together to celebrate the Park District of Ottawa County's new office at Ottawa County's Shores & Islands Welcome Center, 770 SE Catawba Road, in Port Clinton. A ribbon-cutting ceremony occurred to mark the occasion. And state Sen. Theresa Gavarone, R-Bowling Green, presented the park district with a proclamation. The district's mission is to "connect, enhance and protect the natural, scenic, environmental and cultural resources of Ottawa County for the enjoyment of residents and visitors," the park district stated. "The park district has awarded over $700,000 in grants to expand outdoor access and recreation across the county," according to a corporation statement. Chris Singerling, the corporation's executive director, "praised the collaboration between two strong organizations under one roof, creating positive synergy to better serve the public," according to the statement. Additionally, the park district announced how its volunteer program is now open for those interested in supporting local parks and outdoor initiatives.
