Attend Arts Around the world

MILAN — The Milan-Berlin Library District invites community members of all ages to celebrate and explore Arts Around the World with a family-friendly multicultural festival and summer reading program finale. It takes place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2 at the district's Milan branch, 19 Church St., Milan. "Attendees will experience music, dance and more from around the globe," according to an event statement. Additionally, people can: • Enjoy the "stirring sounds of Scottish Highland bagpipes with Duane Dickson" • Step into the "elegance of Japan's rich heritage through the art of Japanese dance with ShoJoJi Japanese Dancers" • Learn from "Robin Pease, founding artistic director and playwright/performer of Kulture Kids, (who will be) sharing information about Native American culture and people" • Receive henna tattoos from a professional artist • Take part in hands-on craft stations • Sample "global treats, some of which will feature comfortingly familiar flavors while others will challenge tasters to try something completely new to them" Note: Materials and snacks are limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis.
