After 2 years, Touch-a-Truck returns

SANDUSKY — After bad weather canceled an ever-popular annual event last year, organizers seem more driven than ever to deliver a fun and memorable experience for all attendees. The 10th installment of Sandusky's Touch-a-Truck event — which will be the first one in two years —takes place from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Paper District Marina, 611 W. Shoreline Drive, Sandusky. Alongside public service organizations, including local police and fire departments, attendees will have the chance to interact with a variety of vehicles. The event "is an opportunity for the community to explore everything from fire trucks, race cars, dump trucks, plows, police vehicles, police horses, police K-9s and so much more," Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver said. Oliver's officers, along with Sandusky firefighters and city recreation department workers, coordinate this entire event. This event coincides with National Night Out, a campaign that seeks to strengthen community-police relationships and encourages community members to fight back against crime.
