Woman indicted on murder

HURON TWP. — A woman was indicted for the death of a man whose body was pulled from the Huron River in May. Dy'mond Vaden, 32, was indicted by a Cuyahoga County grand jury with two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, tampering with evidence, offenses against a human corpse and having weapons while under disability, all of which are felonies. The offense against a human corpse charge was elevated from a misdemeanor due to her allegedly treating, "a human corpse in a way that would outrage reasonable community sensibilities." Vaden was arrested on July 21, and the indictment was handed down on Friday. She has an arraignment scheduled for Aug. 11, according to court records. Emmanuel McQueen, Jr., 41, is listed as a co-defendant. He is charged with a single count of having weapons while under disability. He was indicted on Friday and has an arraignment scheduled for Wednesday, according to court records. What happened Vaden's charges are concerning a body pulled from a marshy area of the Huron River watershed. George A. Cox, Jr., 32, disappeared from Cleveland last year, according to an Erie County Sheriff's Office press release. On May 16, first responders were called to a marshy area on the western side of the Huron River in Huron Township for a report of a body found in the water. Kayakers in the area discovered the body and alerted authorities. Deputies arrived to find the person was clearly deceased. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, according to Erie County coroner Dr. Brian Baxter. The body was located about 1,000 feet south of the Ohio 2 Huron River bridge in an area near the Thunderbird Hills south golf course. Baxter ordered the body to be shipped to Lucas County for the autopsy. He later disclosed that the body was found wrapped in a fitted bed sheet and that the hands and ankles were bound. An article of clothing was found wrapped around the body's thigh. Neither the amount of time the body was in the water nor the cause of death was revealed by the autopsy. After about three weeks, on June 5, police released a flyer detailing some of Cox's tattoos in an attempt to identify him. The flyer worked and the body was linked to Cox's missing person report from Cleveland Police. He was reported missing on Nov. 8. Family said he was last seen on Oct. 19.
