3 charged with Stone St. shooting

SANDUSKY — A girl was taken to the hospital after being shot late Saturday night. Just before 11:30 p.m., first responders were called to the 1000 block of Stone St. for the report of a child with a gunshot injury. When first responders arrived, they found the 14-year-old girl had a gunshot wound in the lower torso. She was alert and talking, according to Sandusky fire Capt. Matt Lesch. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. She was later transferred to a Cleveland hospital. Police officers interviewed people who were in the house at the time the teen was shot. They also checked nearby homes for surveillance cameras that may have captured the incident. One responding officer said she saw a teen boy running from the area, according to a Sandusky police report. Other officers went to the location where she said she saw the boy. Officers saw three shirtless boys in a bedroom of a house in the 1300 block of Prospect St., the report stated. While one officer remained at the south end of the house where the bedroom's window was, another officer went to the front door and attempted to make contact with anyone within. When a woman answered the door, one of the boys allegedly pushed the air conditioner out of the south bedroom's window and fled. Officers pursued him and caught him in the 1400 block of Central Ave. Officers at the Prospect home were granted permission to search for the other two boys and found them in a bedroom, according to the report. A Louis Vuitton chest bag was located and seized, the report states. Inside it was a Glock 19 pistol with an extended magazine. When police ran the serial number, it returned as stolen from Michigan. All three boys were charged with receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. They were also charged with complicity to discharging a firearm into a residence as well as second-degree felony felonious assault. Two of the boys are 15 years old. One is 14 years old. The girl's current condition is unknown.
