Plymouth man sentenced to prison

NORWALK — A Plymouth man was recently sentenced to more than four years in prison after pleading guilty to four felony charges relating to his rape case. At a court hearing on July 23, Winston A. Sizemore, 35, 100 block Maple St., was convicted on one amended count of attempted felonious assault, a third-degree felony; one count of domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony; one count of intimidation, a third-degree felony; and one count of bribery, a third-degree felony. Sizemore pleaded guilty to the four charges on the same day in exchange for the following charges to be dismissed: • Two counts of rape, each a first-degree felony • Two counts of domestic violence, each a fourth-degree felony • Two counts of bribery, each a third-degree felony • One count of criminal damaging or endangering, a first-degree misdemeanor Huron County Common Pleas Court Judge James Conway sentenced Sizemore to serve four years and 11 months in prison, according to court records. Additional sentencing details, such as jail credit and post-release control, were not available as of Friday afternoon. Background At just after 11:30 a.m. on March 18, Plymouth police received a call from a woman claiming that a man had assaulted another woman. When officers arrived at the residence, the woman, who reported the incident, allegedly told officers that she did not want Sizemore at her residence before walking outside. An officer then began speaking with the woman who was allegedly assaulted by Sizemore and asked her if she would like to tell them about what occurred, to which she replied "not really," according to a Plymouth police report. The officer explained the nature of the complaint to the woman and asked if she wanted to file any charges. The woman allegedly told officers that she didn't want to press charges and just wanted to leave. Officers noted the woman seemed worried about speaking in front of the caller. The woman told officers that she contacted a close family member because it was "the fourth day in a row that (Winston) had been hitting her," the report states. The woman told officers she came from a Greenwich mobile home park to the caller's house, believing it was safer since it belonged to a close family member of Sizemore. Additionally, the woman reportedly told officers that, while at the home, Sizemore struck her in the face in front of a family member, causing blood to gush all over the sunroom, the report states. When officers asked the caller if she had seen Sizemore hit the woman, she allegedly said she didn't see anything but noticed the woman's nose bleeding and that she was crying, which prompted her to ask Sizemore to leave her house. Police noted that the victim of the attack showed officers where Sizemore had hit her and found blood on the floor, the end table, the armrest of the couch, and on the sweatshirt she was wearing at the time, the report states. While outside with the officers, the woman also informed them that she was halfway to the caller's house before a sheriff's deputy picked her up and drove her the rest of the way. The woman allegedly said that Sizemore had hit her and forced her to have sex with him while at the mobile-home park, which prompted her to walk to the caller's house, the report states. The woman told officers that, after she left, Sizemore began to follow her in his car. Winston allegedly got out of his truck to confront her, proceeded to push her down to the ground, and allegedly threatened her by saying that if she told anyone, he would kill her and her whole family, the report states.
