Money needed for nativity restoration project

MILAN — Even though there are still a few more months before Christmas, those at the Milan Chamber of Commerce recently publicized information about its nativity scene. "If you've ever strolled through our beautiful Milan town square during the holidays, you've likely paused to admire or taken a photo with the nativity scene: a beloved tradition that has stood at the heart of our community for over 50 years," according to a chamber. The chamber recently informed the public about efforts "to restore this cherished nativity so it can continue to shine brightly for generations to come." To raise funds, "We're raffling off a large gift basket full of local goodies at each Summer on the Square" event, the statement noted. "All proceeds will go directly toward restoring the nativity set." Summer on the Square, a community-oriented initiative, aims to bring everyone, regardless of age, to a central location where they can shop and support small businesses selling a wide variety of goods. Additionally, food trucks serve up tasty meals, musicians entertain the crowd, and games keep adults and children occupied in a fun fashion. The next two events, happening in Milan Village Square, 41 Front St., Milan occur from: • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3 • 5-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18 People can visit the chamber of commerce's table during these events to purchase raffle tickets for as low as $1. Many local businesses and organizations — like Great Lakes Electric, D'Vine Design and LifeWise Academy — donated toward this cause. The chamber also set up a dedicated account for contributions at Milan's Croghan Colonial Bank, 33 Park St. People should mention how they're donating toward Milan's nativity restoration fund. "Let's come together to preserve this meaningful piece of our town's history," the statement read. "Thank you for helping keep the spirit of Christmas alive in Milan."
