2 people arrested in Port Clinton homicide

PORT CLINTON — Law enforcement officials have confirmed that two Toledo residents were recently arrested in connection with the murder of an 86-year-old Port Clinton man. At about 1 p.m. last Saturday, deputies responded to a call regarding a deceased person at a home in the 2600 block of E. Harbor Road in Port Clinton, according to a news release from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. Deputies identified the deceased as 86-year-old Warren Taylor, a Port Clinton resident, and police believe his death was a homicide based on their initial investigation. On Tuesday, deputies arrested Shawn M. Gooden, 51, and he was indicted the next day by an Ottawa County grand jury on the following charges: • Two counts of aggravated murder, each an unclassified felony • Two counts of murder, each an unclassified felony • One count of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony • One count of theft from a person in a protected class, a third-degree felony • One count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony • One count of receiving stolen property, a third-degree felony The second suspect, Iesha Goodell, 34, was arrested on Thursday and charged with one count of receiving stolen property, the release states. "The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office conducted the investigation with the assistance of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Toledo Police Department and the Ottawa County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit," the release states. As of Thursday afternoon, Gooden remains in the Ottawa County Jail on a $400,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 10 a.m. Friday, according to Ottawa County Municipal Court records. Court records for Goodell were not available as of Thursday afternoon. Note: A mugshot for Goodell was not available at press time Thursday.
