PHOTOS: Coming out to 'Inside Out'

SANDUSKY — Many people enjoyed an outside showing of "Inside Out 2." The family-friendly movie played on the big screen Monday night at Jackson Street Pier in downtown Sandusky. Local artist Darian Shepherd even led a workshop, teaching children how to draw the movie's main characters. This year, Sandusky's recreation department brought back a beloved annual summertime tradition in the city: Movies by the Bay, a free outdoor movie series occurring on Mondays throughout the pier's lawn. Kicking off June 16 and running through Aug. 4, the series invites families, friends and film lovers of all ages to enjoy a lineup of all-age-appropriate films with the scenic Sandusky Bay as the backdrop. "We love seeing families gather at the pier to watch a movie together," city recreation superintendent Jason Werling said. "It's a fun and free way to enjoy summer in downtown Sandusky. And we are so excited to welcome Aligned Data Centers to Sandusky as our new sponsor for this season's Movies by the Bay lineup." Summer movie schedule Here's a look at the remaining season schedule for this year's Movies by the Bay: • July 28 — "Free Willy" • Aug. 4 — "Shrek" Each screening begins at 7 p.m. on the Firelands Health screen at Jackson Street Pier in downtown Sandusky. Attendees are encouraged to bring something to sit on as well as snacks.
