A sweet celebration

SANDUSKY — Toft Dairy employees not only dished out ice cream but also much fun and festiveness on Saturday, which commemorated the Sandusky-headquartered company's 125th anniversary. A celebration for this milestone took place throughout Saturday at Toft's ice cream parlor on Venice Road (U.S. 6) in Sandusky. The party kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony for its freezer expansion. Toft's opened for business back in 1900. Currently, the fourth and fifth generations of the Toft family run the operation. It's known for its wide range of ice cream flavors, presently selling more than 50 different kinds. The business also sells a range of dairy products, including milk, cottage cheese and sour cream. "For five generations, Toft Dairy has proudly delivered fresh, quality dairy products from local farms to your table," said Crystal Meisler, Toft Dairy's marketing director. Event highlights included an ice cream-eating contest, live entertainment, kids games and more.
