Scholarship remembers late nurse

SANDUSKY — The Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing recently drew attention to a new scholarship honoring the late Brenna Pravlik. Brenna, 29, of Sandusky, passed away in 2024. She worked as a registered nurse at Firelands Regional Medical Center since 2018. "Brenna was a Firelands employee and loved helping and educating students," according to a school statement. "Brenna's husband, Tyler (Pravlik), has established this scholarship solely for (registered nursing) students at our school and will personally pick the winners. I wanted to share these with you, so please take a moment to read: The nursing floor on which she worked on has an education room that was rededicated to Brenna, as she was always one who they would put the new nurse graduates and interns with to learn the ropes. I was able to pick out a picture that resembles her well and also I picked a quote that just describes her as a nurse. We learned that day that the actual room is being renovated as well. Can't wait to see the updates. Another thing is that I, with the help of the team of the Foundation for Firelands, opened up a memorial scholarship for upcoming nurses each year. This is to honor her work in educating the new nurses. Funds for this will come mostly from donations by friends/family/public. I will also be contributing to it every year. The scholarship recipient will be chosen mid-late August.
