Updated: 3 shot in Fremont

Last updated: 8:25 p.m. Friday FREMONT — Three teenagers were shot in Fremont late Thursday and one remains in critical condition. The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. at Rodger Young Park following a gathering of young adults. Three teens were struck by bullets: one 19-year-old man and two 17-year-old girls, Fremont police Chief Derek Wensinger said. The man was in critical condition on Friday. The status of the two girls, who Wensinger described as bystanders, was unclear. "This is not acceptable in our community and we are pushing every resource we have to aggressively investigate this," he said. "This is not representative of what we want in the Fremont community and I know the community at large agrees with me that this is not acceptable behavior." At least one handgun was fired during the incident. Wensinger said his department is reviewing surveillance cameras and are "actively looking for the people responsible." He also encouraged anyone who was a witness to the shooting to contact Fremont police to provide a statement and his department continues its investigation. Suspect arrested On Friday afternoon, Fremont police said it had a warrant for the arrest of Elijah Hill, 18, of Sandusky, according to a release from the department. The release said Hill would be charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony. The department said later Friday afternoon that Hill turned himself in. "Great decision, thank you Mr. Hill," the agency posted online. "Please remember that we are still talking to the remaining witnesses at the park last night. Please contact Fremont PD and talk to us about what you saw if you were there."
