Want to work out in a cozy, non-gym environment? Stop by the art studio to try pole dancing, aerial silks, a balance beam or any other fitness equipment in a non-class structured fashion. An instructor will be on site for safety assurances and to answer questions. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present to sign a waiver. Cost to attend is $5. This weekly event is sponsored by the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and are free of charge. This week's performers will be the North Coast Concert Band. Bring your own seating. • Sit and Stitch: Beginning at 1 p.m., at the Erie County Senior Center, located at 620 E. Water Street. Do you crochet, knit or embroider? Bring your project and socialize with other stitchers while you make new friends. Open to anyone of all ages who wants to come learn. Registration is not required. • Sandusky Sunset Celebrations: From 8:20 -9:30 p.m., every Wednesday at Jackson Street Pier. This pilot program is more of a vibe than an event. Its an open invitation to all to gather at the water's edge and take in the beautiful lake view as the sun sets. Each week will feature a new musical act or performer to help set the mood. No registration is required and there is no cost to attend. • Breakfast Buddies: From 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., every Thursday, at the Campbell Christian Community Center, located at 1215 Campbell Street. Enjoy a free morning made just for parents, grandparents and their preschool or younger little ones. Each week features a fun theme with breakfast, fun crafts, hands-on activities, interactive storytimes, and free diapers and wipes to take home. There is no cost to attend. • Toddler Day: From noon to 4 p.m. every Thursday, Ghostly Manor Thrill Center, 3319 Milan Road, will offer free admission to its\ skate and play areas for children 5 and under. In the summertime, every Thursday, a large group gathers in downtown Sandusky for a leisurely bicycle ride around the city. All levels of riders are encouraged to attend. Party at the Pier is a program of the Greater Sandusky Partnership and is always free to attend. No cost to attend, but there is a registration fee for those wishing to enter a vehicle. The show is presented by the Crusin' Car Club of Northern Ohio. Fall victim to Pier Pressure with your community and trainers from local fitness centers for a FREE community workout every Saturday morning at 8 a.m., from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Participants will learn proper stretching, outdoor exercises and can walk or run at their own pace in downtown Sandusky along the various piers overlooking Sandusky Bay and Lake Erie. Open to all ages, but please leave your furry friends at home. Workouts will vary each week depending on fitness center and instructor assigned to each morning. Experience electrifying nights with LED lights, lasers and high energy dance music spun by a live DJ. Dress in your favorite neon or glow-in-the-dark apparel. Jump passes start at $15, but there is no additional ticket cost to attend the Glow Party. Kelleys Island • Island Fest: Recurring daily on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, at Veteran's Memorial Park, located at 112 Division Street. Great fun for the whole family can be found at Island Fest, which offers Ohio artisans, local crafters, food vendors, beer tent and evening street dances. Saturday kicks off with an exciting parade in addition to afternoon live entertainment, traditional games for children, and fireworks at dusk. The event is free and sponsored by the Kelleys Island Chamber of Commerce. Put in Bay • Wild Tuesdays: From 1 – 3 p.m., every Tuesday, at Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center, located at 255 Meechen Road. Come out to the beautiful nature center and enjoy hands-on education about nature, wildlife and animals at Put-in-Bay. This event is free and no registration is required. Port Clinton • Slater's Famous Jazz Night: Every Wednesday from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Slater's Food and Spirits, 1634 E. Perry St., will host live jazz music. Call 419-732-2030 for more information. Huron • Mustard Mondays: From 10-11 a.m., at Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve and State Nature Preserve, located at 2514 Cleveland Road E. Help Stewardship staff remove invasive garlic mustard to help allow native plant species to grow and thrive. All gear provided, dress for the weather and meet at the visitor center. • Osborn MetroPark parkrun: Parkrun is a timed 5K walk/jog/run happening every Saturday at 9 a.m. at Osborn MetroPark, 3910 Perkins Ave. The event is free and open to all ages; people are welcome to bring their strollers or dogs. Registration is required and can be done at parkrun.us/register/. • Family Storytime: Every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., the Huron Public Library, 333 Williams St., will host storytime with Miss Melissa. Vermilion • Market in the Park: From 10 a.m – 2 p.m., every Saturday in the heart of downtown Vermilion. Every week features new vendors and new products to keep you coming back all summer. There's plenty of free parking next to and near the market. Within easy walking distance are lots of shops and restaurants to enjoy and just a few blocks north is Main Street Beach, with a great view of Lake Erie. This weekly event is a wonderful place to gather with friends and neighbors, a shady stop on a bike tour, or just a fun place to hangout as you begin your weekend. Gibsonburg • Preschool Storytime: At 11 a.m., the Gibsonburg Birchard Public Library, 100 N. Webster St., will host storytime for children ages 3-5. Visit birchard.org for more information. Fremont • Family Storytime: 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Birchard Public Library. Enjoy stories, songs and fun for the whole family. THURSDAY Sandusky • Kitten Yoga: From 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., at Venue 634, located at 634 Columbus Avenue. Join Humane Society of Erie County for yoga with adoptable kittens. This event is suitable for all experience levels. Doors open 15 minutes prior, bring your own mat and water. Cost to attend is a $35 donation and all proceeds benefit the shelter. Adoptions available for those who have pre-approved adoption applications on file with HSEC. It's free to submit your adoption application on the website before the class if you are interested. Huron • Nature Baby! From 10 – 10:30 a.m., at the Roger Johnson Nature Center, Room 109, located in Osborn MetroPark at 3910 Perkins Avenue. Come have some firefly fun with Miss Cheryl. We'll read a story, sing songs, look at live fireflies and then finish with a nature walk. Geared toward ages 0 – 3, with siblings welcome. There is no registration required and no cost to attend. Vermilion • 3rd Thursday Music, Flowers and Sunset: Beginning at 5 p.m., in downtown Vermilion. Visit Vermilion's wonderful shops, while strolling through historic downtown and being serenaded. Presented by the Vermilion Chamber, there will be an exciting array of musical entertainment with more than 30 bands playing all sorts of genres. There's also art work to browse and a variety of food options for the evening. Bring a chair and enjoy watching the sunset. The evening is free and fun for the whole family. Clyde • Vino Vinyasa Night: From 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., at Soul Stretch Yoga & Cycle Studio, located at 5826 E. Harbor Road. Join for an unforgettable evening of movement, mindfulness and indulgence. Flow through a rejuvenating, all-levels vinyasa yoga session with Rose. There is no cost to attend and no registration is required. Port Clinton • FSO Around the Town: Beginning at 6 p.m., on Madison Street. Join the Firelands Brass Quintet, led by the Firelands Symphony Orchestra's principal tubist, J.C. Sherman and other FSO brass players, on instruments such as trombone, trumpet, and French horn. The ensemble will perform a slate of fanfares and marches along with popular tunes appropriate for the summer celebration. This event is free through the sponsorship of Ottawa County Community Foundation. Please bring your own chair. SATURDAY Sandusky • Toft's 125 Anniversary Bash: From 2 – 8 p.m., at Toft's Dairy Ice Cream Parlor, located at 3717 Venice Road. Ohio best ice cream parlor is celebrating 125 years of making life sweeter. Following the ground-breaking ceremony of the freezer expansion, there will be an ice cream eating contest at 3:30 p.m. Throughout the day there will be bounce houses, a craft table, giveaways, photo ops with Tilly, food trucks, a beer tent and Mix 102.7 will be broadcasting live. You don't want to miss this big bash with fun for all ages. There is no cover charge. Elmore • Sunflower Door Wreath: From 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Schedel Arboretum and Gardens, located at 19255 W. Portage River S. Road. Create a bright, classic wreath that screams sunflowers. After wrapping the two inner wreath rings with twine you will then surround it with beautiful ribbons of your choice around the two outer wreath rings. Ribbons will vary due to availability. Bellevue • Lantern Tour: Beginning at 7 p.m., at the Seneca Caverns, located at 15248 E. Township Road 178. Step back in time and descend into the shadows on a captivating one-hour Lantern Tour. Relive the thrilling experience of early explorers as you venture 65 feet below the surface of Seneca Caverns. Guided by lantern light and your own headlamp, you'll navigate rugged passageways and uncover the eerie ghost stories, local folklore, and fascinating history of this Ohio landmark. Port Clinton • Vintage Airplane & Car Show: From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at Erie-Ottawa International Airport, located at 3255 E. State Road. Fly-in or drive-in, all eras and makes are welcome. The show will go on the grass area between the airport terminal, and the museum complex and off taxiways. Music will be provided by Cruisin Zeake. There is a $10 cover charge. SUNDAY Fremont • Spiegel Grove Squires Game: From 1 – 3 p.m., at Spiegel Grove, located at 1337 Hayes Avenue. See how base ball was played during the Civil War era with the Spiegel Grove Squires. The Squires are volunteers who have studied and learned the methods of play used in the 1860s, including playing bare-handed. Players are called ballists, they wear period-style uniforms and adopt the language of 19th-century base ball during their matches. Home games are played on the lawn behind the Hayes Home and admission is free. This week, they face the Mansfield Independents. MONDAY Sandusky • Paddle at Pipe Creek: From 10:30 a.m. to noon, and 1 – 2:30 p.m., at Pipe Creek Wildlife Area, located at the end of River Avenue. Join H2Ohio for an on-water experience that is beginner friendly and completely free. After discussing water safety, everyone will be heading out in their sit-in kayaks for an hour and a half scenic paddle throughout the harbor where they will discuss water quality, habitat, and maybe see some wildlife up close. Meet at the kayak launch at Face Street and River Avenue. All programs are subject to change or cancellation. Children must always be at least 10 years of age and accompanied by an adult. Celebrate the launch of The Emporium—a dynamic new destination featuring local artisans, food trucks, a farmer's market, a convenience store and more. After the ribbon cutting ceremony, there will be live music and refreshments to enjoy while exploring this creative community hub that blends Sandusky's rich history with bold, local-first energy. There is no cost to attend. WEDNESDAY Huron • Moth Madness: From 9:30 – 11 p.m., at Roger Johnson Nature Center located in Osborn MetroPark at 3910 Perkins Avenue. Join Naturalist Mike and celebrate National Moth Week with an evening of mothing. Learn about the fascinating moths and other nocturnal insects attracted to the bait spots and traps, and discover their important roles in the ecosystem. Bring a flashlight and dress for the weather as we explore the night together. Meet in front of the Nature Center. There is no cost to attend and no registration required. Fremont • Verandah Concert Series: From 6:30–8 p.m., at Spiegel Grove, located at 1337 Hayes Avenue. This concert series features a variety of musical acts from across the region. There will be an old-fashioned ice cream social prior to the music beginning. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets for seating, and choose their favorite spot on the expansive and shady lawn in front of the home. Donations are accepted for ice cream but not required. If there are thunderstorms on concert night, the event will be canceled.
