Color run raises $12K

Editor's note: The All for Abs Color Run took place June 14 in Sandusky. More recently, organizers tallied the amount of money raised, which provides money for the Abigail Bastien Memorial Scholarship. SANDUSKY — This year's All for Abs 5K Color Run raised $12,000. This marked the eighth year that my family has hosted this memorial 5K in honor of my late daughter, Abigail Bastien, who passed away in 2017 after a tragic accident. We had another great turnout this year with about 200 people showing up and another 100 who signed up but didn't make it due to the rain. I continue to receive so much positive feedback from the community, and people seem to really enjoy the color run, which makes it a little different than your ordinary 5K: • Participants could run or walk the course. Walkers are always welcome. • We had three color stations set up throughout the course, consisting of two laps in downtown Sandusky. • Runners could choose at each station to be sprayed with color powder a total of six times. • Color powder packets were also handed out to each participant, which were released into the sky after everyone had completed the race. In memory All proceeds from this 5K go directly to the Abigail Bastien Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded each year to two area student-athletes. Abby loved to run. It was her biggest passion. It's an honor that a community event like this can carry on Abigail's memory while helping graduating high school students in the process. We have been fortunate to have so many generous donors again this year, many of whom have been sponsoring the race since it began in 2018. I truly have the best race committee and group of friends who step up each and every year to help out.
