Center honored for best breastfeeding practices

SANDUSKY — The Ohio Hospital Association and the Ohio Department of Health recently recognized the Firelands Center for Women & Newborns. The local center successfully renewed all 10 steps of the state's 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding program. "This five-star award is part of the Ohio First Steps for Healthy Babies initiative to award hospitals for taking steps to promote, protect and support breastfeeding," according to a Firelands statement. The Firelands Center for Women & Newborns provides women of all ages with "the highest-quality female-focused care possible — from prenatal and child birth care to recovery from gynecological and other surgeries unique to women — in a new state-of-the-art healing environment," according to the local health care organization.
