City golf tourney down to final four

SANDUSKY — The semifinals of the 2025 Mills Creek City Golf Tournament are scheduled for Saturday morning. Gabe Zeller will face Wayne Jackson in an 18-hole match play semifinal at 7:30 a.m. Tournament medalist Bryan Burlovich will square off with Bowling Green State University baseball coach Kyle Hallock in the 7:40 semifinal. The winners will be back at Mills Creek on Sunday for the 36-hole match play final. The start time will be determined after the semifinals. Zeller advanced to the final four by knocking off two-time champion Tim Zapadka 2 and 1 in the first round last Sunday before eliminating defending champion John Sharp 1 up in the quarterfinals. Jackson cruised to wins over Mark Butler (6 and 4) and Brett Reed (7 and 6) in his first two matches. A total of 16 golfers entered the tournament, which took place for the first time in 1940. Jackson — who won the 27-hole match play tournament at Mills on June 7-8 — and Sharp were automatic qualifiers. Burlovich won tourney medalist honors last weekend with a 2-over 74 before defeating Kyle Schaefer and Jacob Williams (both 4 and 3). Hallock advanced with a 4 and 3 win against Tom Mock and a 2 and 1 victory over Greg Kanis.
