Long John Silver's sets opening day

HURON — A spokesperson for Long John Silver's recently informed the public on when the fast-food restaurant intends to open its newest spot. "The Huron location is scheduled to set sail on Monday, July 14," according to a statement from the restaurant. "We are excited to welcome our Huron guests aboard." In the statement, company executives noted Long John Silver's chose Huron "based on several factors, including existing locations and areas where we see opportunity or interest from the community." It'll operate from 2018 Cleveland Road W. in Huron beside a Shell gas station near McDonald's. The site served as a former home to Burger King. Construction involved demolishing and rebuilding atop the previously existing structure. Crews also resurfaced the parking lot. All told, the total investment equated to about $1.2 million, a private amount, according to Huron's government. At this time, the government isn't providing any money or financial incentives. Long John Silver's, a chain specializing in seafood, should bring its full menu to Huron when opening this location. This would include popcorn shrimp, hushpuppies and pacific cod sandwiches. Some years back, Long John Silver's served people in a Sandusky-area building off Milan Road (U.S. 250) within Taco Bell. It shuttered and hasn't had a presence anywhere around the area since this forthcoming location. In fact, the closest Long John Silver's to the local area can be found in Lorain, Elyria and Tiffin.
