Suspect charged with murder in man's death

SANDUSKY — Police on Friday arrested a Lorain man and charged him with murder in relation to the death of a Sandusky man. Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver provided some of the alleged details as of 11:30 a.m. Friday: • At about 2 a.m. Friday, Sandusky police received a call to the 1200 block of Central Ave. for a report of two men involved in some sort of altercation in the street. • Witnesses observed one of the men standing over top of the other. The man standing entered a vehicle, a 2013 Cadillac Escalade. • While in the car, the man backed up from a private driveway, entered into Central Avenue and ran over the other man, who remained in the street. • The victim, who was run over, died at the scene. As of this posting, police have not identified the victim. • The man in the Cadillac fled from the area. • Sandusky police obtained the license plate from this vehicle and located it in a Lorain-area residence. • Along with Lorain police, Sandusky police detectives executed a search warrant at this Lorain-area residence where they recovered the vehicle and arrested the person accused of this incident. • Police charged Joshua P. Head, 36, Lorain, with murder. He was scheduled to be incarcerated in the Erie County Jail later Friday after being interviewed by detectives. Head is scheduled for a 9 a.m. arraignment on Monday in Sandusky Municipal Court, according to court records. As of early Saturday, Head is incarcerated at Erie County Jail under a no-bond order.
