Steer funds toward boy's show

Editor's note: Later this month, Tavin Warner, 14, will participate in a charity steer show at the Ohio State Fair to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House. His mother, Sara Warner, who runs their family's farm with her husband, Andy, talked about this important accomplishment in her son's life. CASTALIA — On July 30, my son, Tavin Warner — a rising freshman at Margaretta High School — will be participating in a charity steer show at the Ohio State Fair to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House. This special event will bring together 4-H members, families and local supporters with all proceeds going directly to support families in need during medical crises. The show promises not only spirited competition but also an opportunity to spotlight the generosity and dedication of our community in helping a cause that keeps families together when they need it most. "All funds raised at this event help families stay close while their child is in the hospital and provide essential support during a difficult time in their lives," said Dee Anders, CEO and executive director of the Ronald McDonald House. "This unique event brings the Ohio community together to honor agriculture and children, including our 4-H youth and families who are supported by the Ronald McDonald House." Context on his commitment to cattle At just 14 years old, Tavin has already developed a deep passion for agriculture, especially when it comes to working with cattle. A proud and active member of both Countyline 4-H Club of Sandusky County and Margaretta FFA, Tavin has spent the past several years raising, showing and caring for his own herd of cattle. His days often begin at sunrise, tending to feed and chores, and he's always eager to learn more about animal nutrition, genetics and livestock management. Through 4-H, Tavin has gained valuable hands-on experience and has competed at local county, state fairs and at nationals, earning recognition for his hard work and dedication. In FFA, he is learning the leadership and technical skills that will serve him well in the future, whether in the show ring or in a career in agriculture. Known for his work ethic, curiosity and love for the land, Tavin hopes to continue expanding his herd and, one day, become a leader in the cattle industry. Since he has been little, agriculture has been in his blood, and he looks forward to achieving his dreams by working on our family farm once high school is completed. Want to donate?
