2 shot on Farwell

SANDUSKY — An Independence Day celebration turned violent on East Farwell Street on Friday. At approximately 11:40 p.m., first responders were called to the 1200 block for the report of gunshots. When officers arrived, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. EMS shuttled the man to a local hospital. He was then flown to a Cleveland hospital by medical helicopter. He is still at MetroHealth, but his condition is unknown, according to Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver. A second victim was transported to the hospital by a private citizen's car. That car was later towed to the police station. The scene was littered with the remains of fireworks. Detectives cordoned off the area and placed more than a dozen evidence markers as they processed the scene. Investigators located shell casings from both 9 mm and .45 caliber rounds.
