Carousel museum fundraising for new heat system

SANDUSKY — The Sandusky Merry-Go-Round Museum is seeking funds from the community to replace the boiler heating system ahead of the winter season. Estimates put the replacement costs at $100,000. The museum is a nonprofit set out to preserve and display antique carousels. Located in the former U.S. Postal Service building on Jackson Street, the museum has been in operation since July 1990. Per the museum's fundraising campaign, the boiler system is more than 100 years old and has reached the end of its service life. The museum actively maintains and restores antique carousel figures, including those from Cedar Point and the community. It will also be hosting two really cool events this year: • July 26— Round and Round Carousel 5K Ride For $25, $15 for kids, guests will continuously ride the carousel at the museum without taking a single step. • Sept. 27 — Spirits in the Museum It's $50 per person and $80 per couple. Guests will enjoy the museum dressed for Halloween, sample rum and whisky from Cleveland Distillery and eat appetizers. All donations toward the boiler replacement will receive a tax receipt.
