Report: Woman slaps officer

SANDUSKY — Police recently arrested a Fremont woman for allegedly assaulting an officer. Crystal Warren, 40, of the 900 block of Stilwell Ave., is facing charges of assault on a peace officer, a fourth-degree felony; cocaine possession, a fifth-degree felony; and misdemeanor resisting arrest. Just before 8 a.m. on June 16, officers saw Warren near the intersection of Meigs Street and Sycamore Line, according to a Sandusky police report. Officers were aware Warren had a cocaine possession warrant through Sandusky Municipal Court so they attempted to stop and arrest her. Warren allegedly refused to place her hands behind her back when officers asked, the report states. She then allegedly attempted to run past officers who used "the least amount of force necessary" to arrest her, the report states. In the process of her arrest, Warren allegedly slapped an officer. She was taken to Erie County Jail. She has since been released on bond. Warren pleaded not guilty and had a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. on June 30. Her next court appearance is not listed in court records. She is represented by attorney Michael Grimm.
