Man gets 5 decades in prison

NORWALK — A Wakeman man was sentenced on Tuesday to more than 50 years in prison after a jury found him guilty on all charges, including the rape of a child. On June 27, a jury found Keith M. Bores, 37, of the 5800 block of U.S. 20, guilty on all 28 charges listed in his indictment. At a court hearing on July 1, Huron County Common Pleas Court Judge James Conway sentenced Bores to serve 52 to 56 years in prison, according to court records. Bores received a credit for serving approximately eight months in jail, according to court records. Under the terms of his sentencing, Bores will be classified as a Tier 3 sex offender, which means that he must verify home and work addresses every three months for the rest of his life. Bores will additionally be placed on a mandatory term of five years post-release control, according to court records. Background Bores was initially indicted by a Huron County grand jury in October 2024 on the following charges: • Ten counts of sexual battery, each a third-degree felony • Ten counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, each a third-degree felony • Five counts of rape, each a first-degree felony • Three counts of endangering children, two of which are listed as third-degree felonies, and the third is listed as a second-degree felony According to Bores' indictment, the crimes first began around September 2022 and continued through October 2024. Bores' knowingly "engaged in sexual conduct with a minor by force or threat of force," the indictment states. The indictment also indicates that the victim was less than 16 years old at the time of the incident.
