Goodbye to Danbury's dedicated staff

DANBURY TWP. — Every school year, districts invite new staff into their buildings but also have to say goodbye to others. Danbury Schools sent off its lists of devoted retirees from this school year with a message highlighting the differences they made to the district and its students. "As we celebrate new beginnings, we also pause to honor some very special individuals who have reached a beautiful milestone of their own," Danbury superintendent Cari Buehler said. Danbury's retirees are: • Rhonda Miller, second-shift custodian, began in 2008 • Leanne Lavelle, elementary and middle school teacher, began in 1992 • Vickey Kukay, elementary and middle school teacher, began in 1993 • Kory Conrad, high school science teacher, began in 1994 "Each has poured their time, their energy and their hearts into this district," Buehler said. "Through changing times, growing classrooms and countless student lives, each has remained steadfast, serving not just as educators but as mentors, encouragers and role models." This list of retirees made Danbury a place of belonging, not just a place to learn, according to Buehler. She said the students are better because of the retiree's influence, and the community is stronger thanks to their commitment. "As each closes this chapter and begins a well-earned next one, know that our retirees' legacy will live on in every student they've inspired and every life they've touched," Buehler said. "From all of us at Danbury: Thank you. We celebrate you, we honor you, and we will never forget the difference you've made."
