Firelands celebrates graduates

HURON TWP. — Plum Brook Country Club served as the backdrop as 10 physicians were recognized during the graduation ceremony for Firelands Regional Medical Center's medical education program, which occurred on May 27. Dr. Scott Campbell, chief medical officer, and Dr. Eric Mast, director of medical education, provided welcoming comments to the graduates and those in attendance. Dr. Matthew Braniecki, director of the family medicine residency, recognized the following graduates: • Dr. Kyle Denihan, who will be joining Firelands Physician Group in Castalia • Dr. Samantha Mason, who will be joining Firelands Physician Group in Port Clinton • Dr. Mitchell Rice, who will be joining Firelands Physician Group in Sandusky • Dr. Kaitlyn Rizzo, who will be joining Firelands Physician Group in Norwalk Dr. Kristopher Lindbloom, director of the transitional year residency, recognized the following graduates: • Dr. Simon Nadeau, who will continue his residency training in diagnostic radiology at University Hospital in Cleveland • Dr. Joseph Patrick, who will continue his residency training in diagnostic radiology at Kettering Health in Dayton • Dr. Laurence Stolzenberg, who will continue his residency training in diagnostic radiology at the University of Rochester / Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York • Dr. Nicholas Trivelas, who will continue his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Detroit Medical Center / Wayne State University in Detroit Dr. Larry Robinson, director of the hospice and palliative medicine fellowship, recognized the following graduates: • Dr. Adam Jenkins, who will be joining the Raymond G. Murphy Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico • Dr. Joseph Parenteau, who will be joining Hospice of the Western Reserve in Westlake After receiving their awards and certificates, graduates presented awards to area physicians who were instrumental in providing instruction and guidance during their education. • Dr. Adam Kapler was recognized as the family medicine residency preceptor of the year. • Katy McGraw, an advanced practice registered nurse, was recognized as the hospice and palliative medicine preceptor of the year. • Dr. Patrick Tupa was recognized as the transitional year residency preceptor of the year. The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Outstanding Physician Awards were presented to: • Dr. Ashley Burkholder, primary care specialty physician • Dr. Rob Cromley, primary care physician • Dr. Mitchell Rice, resident physician • Dr. Albert Vargas, specialty care
