MARGARETTA • Margaretta's eighth-grade students visited Washington, D.C. The students checked out sites like the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, multiple national memorials, the U.S. Capitol, Ford's Theater, the National Archives, the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, the White House, Arlington National Cemetery and saw a Twilight Tattoo performance at Myer-Henderson Hall. Lastly, they visited Gettysburg and Medieval Times. EDISON • Ilah Reynolds was selected to be the sole police debater for the North Coast Debate District World Schools Debate team. She competed in Des Moines, Iowa, with more than 190 schools worldwide. Her team placed 11th overall, earning a 5-1 record and advancing to the octa-finals. The team's performance won an automatic bid to next year's national tournament in Virginia. PORT CLINTON • The Port Clinton Piranhas Swim Team swam together at the school's pool. SOUTH CENTRAL • South Central Schools took a trip to Washington, D.C. Educators at the district attended the Model Schools Conference, a national event for innovation and excellence in education. D.A.R. MARTHA PITKIN CHAPTER • Seven local eighth-grade students won the Daughters of the American Revolution Youth Leadership Award.
