New year, new superintendent

SANDUSKY — Dennis Muratori will step into his role as Sandusky Schools' interim superintendent at the start of August. Muratori was approved as the 2025-26 interim superintendent at a board meeting earlier this year. At the board's meeting Tuesday, his one-year contract starting Aug. 1 was approved with a $160,200 salary. "This gives the district the ability to keep consistency of purpose at the forefront while two new administrators learn their roles," board president Martha Murray said. "The Sandusky city school board is very thankful that Mr. Muratori was willing to take on this role." He is taking over the superintendent's duties from Dan Rambler, who announced his departure from the district in February. "I believe Denny is a phenomenal choice for the district as he will be a great leader and continue the pride tradition and excellence of the district," Rambler said. Muratori has a long-time connection to the district. Sandusky is his hometown, and he was a 1984 graduate of Sandusky Schools. He also spent 21 of his 32 years in public education employed by the district as a teacher, coach, athletic director, administrator, assistant superintendent and chief of staff. He's also the former superintendent of Huron Schools. "There were no other candidates as Mr. Muratori's position as chief of staff and transformation officer, eight years as superintendent at another district and the many years in other roles at Sandusky Schools makes him superbly qualified to take on the role as interim for one year," Murray said. In his time of serving, Muratori said Sandusky's priority will remain the same: to maintain continuity while bringing in a vision created by the board. "The board's strategic vision, Envision 2030, ensures our district endorses an innovative mindset, providing students, their families and our staff with access to resources necessary to be successful," Muratori said. Muratori said he will also assist the board in its search and transition to a permanent superintendent. "I am honored for the opportunity to serve my hometown and alma mater during the 2025-26 school year in the capacity of interim CEO/superintendent," he said.
