Forum on U.S. doctor shortage

SANDUSKY — Serving Our Seniors is hosting a public forum, titled The US Doctor Shortage: What Erie Co. Older Adults Ought to Know. It'll take place from 1:30-3 p.m. on Thursday at the Erie County Office Building, third floor, 247 Columbus Ave., in downtown Sandusky. Fifteen seats are available. No RSVPs required. The expert panel will address the issue of Erie County's large aging population — 31% of the total population — and the diminishing number of young adults in health care as a profession in relation to the growth of doctors nearing retirement. The panel of professionals will answer questions from the audience with hopes of assisting older adults in becoming better informed consumers of health care services in the future. The panel will consist of: • Dr. Ashley Rosko, MD and associate professor at The Ohio State University Medical Center and chair of Ohio Department of Health's Cancer and Aging Workgroup • Tim Sarko, data dissemination specialist with the U.S. Census • Pete Schade, Erie County health commissioner, overseeing the Erie County Health Department and its primary care clinic
