UPDATE: Alleged at-fault driver cited in U.S. 20 wreck

Update: Tuesday, 2 p.m. The alleged at-fault driver, a 24-year-old Minnesota man, was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign. The man claimed he looked for westbound traffic on U.S. 20 before attempting to cross those lanes and continue on Halfway Road, according to an Ohio State Patrol crash report. He claimed he was not distracted. The driver of the semi that swerved to avoid the alleged at-fault driver, a 42-year-old Bellevue man, told troopers that the other driver made no attempt to stop before crossing the westbound lanes of U.S. 20, the report states. Original post Monday, 5 p.m. RIDGEFIELD TWP. — A three-car crash snarled traffic on U.S. 20 on Thursday. A tractor-trailer was southbound on Halfway Road in Ridgefield Township on Thursday afternoon, according to the Norwalk post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The driver failed to yield at the intersection of U.S. 20. This caused a westbound semi to swerve, go off-road and strike a sign. A third truck then struck the front of the alleged at-fault driver's truck. U.S. 20 was closed for a "short time," according to the patrol, while the trucks were cleared from the road. As of late Sunday, no citations have been issued because the investigation is not complete, according to the patrol.
