Update: Shooting victim identified

Update 4:45 p.m. SANDUSKY — Sandusky police released additional information Tuesday about a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend. Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver said that there were numerous people involved in a fight both inside and outside a business at 1048 Cleveland Road (U.S. 6), and that one adult man was shot outside and was transported by others to a local hospital before being transferred to a Cleveland-area hospital. Christopher Harris, a spokesperson from the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office, confirmed the identity of the victim as Dominique M. Johnson, 27, of Sandusky. The medical examiner's office conducted an autopsy on Johnson on Tuesday. Oliver said that the victim suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg, which damaged an artery, resulting in a large amount of blood loss. Oliver said police are still trying to identify the person who shot Johnson. "Our detectives are continuing to investigate the incident," he said. Update, 11 a.m. A representative with the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office released the identity of the man who was fatally shot over the weekend. The victim is identified as Dominique M. Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver said that the autopsy for the victim, whom police have not identified, was scheduled to take place later in the morning. Here's the statement released by the chief: "We are investigating a shooting that took place outside of a business at 1048 Cleveland Road. There were numerous people involved in a fight inside and outside of the establishment. An adult male was shot outside. He was transported to the hospital by other subjects. He was then transferred to Cleveland Metro. He died at the hospital on June 15. An autopsy is scheduled for this morning. We are awaiting the results."
