A 'cultured' grant

SANDUSKY — A new grant program helps support public art and culture throughout Sandusky. During a recent public meeting, city officials brought attention to committing $10,000 in public funds for what's known as cultural programming grants. Tom Horsman, the city's communications manager, provided the following answers on this initiative: • What: "It was created to support new or expanded cultural programming that activates public spaces, provides more opportunities for local artists and adds to the city's overall quality of life." • Why/Where: "The goal is to fund creative ideas that bring people together and make Sandusky a more vibrant place to live and visit." • Who: "So far in 2025, the Greater Sandusky Partnership was awarded a $3,600 grant to support the Sandusky Sunset Celebration. This new weekly event series will bring live music and performance art to Jackson Street Pier every Wednesday evening at sunset, from June through August.
