NORWALK • Eight classes of third-grade students at Pleasant Street Elementary spent their last days of school at Scoops & Brew. Teachers brought their students out for a treat, celebrating their hard work throughout the year. Scoops & Brew is a year-round ice cream and coffee shop. It offers specialty coffee, lunch items and ice cream. The shop has seasonal outdoor seating, a drive-thru and online service. • Norwalk's fifth-grade students completed the D.A.R.E., Drug Abuse Resistance Education, program. Officer Cameron Lloyd led the students through the program. Special guests joined the students to celebrate. Mayor Dave Light, safety service director Angie Smith and police Chief Scott Dahlgren congratulated the students. CLYDE-GREEN SPRINGS • Clyde High School welcomes an alum back to the district as its next science teacher. Jake Birkholz is coming from Old Fort High School where he taught physical science, chemistry, environmental science and physics. After graduating from Clyde High School, Birkholz studied at Tiffin University and the University of Findlay. SANDUSKY • Sandusky's Gentlemen's Club helped clean up after Ohio Bike Week. WILLARD • Willard's No Limits Choir sang the national anthem at a recent Cleveland Guardians game. ST. PAUL • St. Paul's Early Childhood students celebrated the end of the year at Flyer Town. Students explored local businesses, the church, the school, the Flyer Town Library, the Flyer Landing Strip, the Norwalk Reservoir and the bowling alley. PERKINS • Perkins started summer off with its annual trip to Safety Town at the elementary school. Perkins Township, police and fire helped with the event. Students were introduced to the school resource officer, Officer Jacob Marsinick, and other officers, including K-9 Tenda. DANBURY • Danbury's food service director, Dawn Hansen, was presented with grant funds from Hospital Purchasing Services. The funds will be used to create a mobile breakfast cart for breakfast.
