Aquatic Center opens to public on Friday

SANDUSKY — Sandusky Schools announced when and how the community can use the new aquatic center. Starting Friday, June 13, all are welcome to take part in all the Sandusky Aquatic Center has to offer, including a list of activities through the summer. Lap swimming and pool visits cost $5 per visit. Classes will cost $10 each. Multi-visit punch cards are available for purchase at various prices. The pool will be open for laps from 5:45-7:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays in June. The center's full schedule of June activities can be found on the Sandusky Aquatic Center Google Calendar and website. "We are incredibly excited to begin community access at the Sandusky Aquatic Center," Michael Carr, Erie County Health Department aquatics program supervisor, said. "Our goal is to be a community hub, and providing opportunities for public use is a major step in that direction. We want as many families, individuals, and seniors to benefit from our exceptional facilities as possible." Schedules, prices, and updates are as follows: ● Schedules for public swimming, lap lanes and water fitness classes will be regularly updated on the school and health department websites: - Sandusky City Schools Website - Erie County Health Department Website - Google Calendar ● Sandusky Schools and the Erie County Health Department's official social media pages will offer real-time changes and event highlights. ● Printed schedules will also be available at the Sandusky Aquatic Center's front desk during operational hours. The aquatic center features: • An expanded 6-lane competition swimming pool • Accessible spectator seating • New entrance, lobby and family locker room • New adult accessibility changing room and table • Updated athletic locker rooms • Additional storage spaces "This project has been a true testament to the power of community collaboration," Dennis Muratori, chief of staff and transformation officer, said.
