Teachers staying busy over summer

FREMONT — This past week, the sixth Sandusky County Teacher Bootcamp initiative took place. It allows educators to gain firsthand insights into careers available in Sandusky County, which they can share this knowledge with students once classes resume this fall. It's overseen by the Sandusky County Economic Development Corp. "We deeply appreciate our educators for taking the time to learn more about careers available in Sandusky County in order to pass along the information to our students," according to a corporation statement. Here's a recap of the camp's first two days. The corporation provided statements: Day 1 Our group got a personal tour of Whirlpool Corp. and Luckey Farmers, discovering essential skills for each industry. Day 2 We kicked off the day with a visit to ProMedica Memorial Hospital where educators explored three locations: — The main hospital building where educators got an inside look at the core operations — Herbert-Perna Center, home to the 360 Health and physical therapy departments, highlighting the diverse physical health services — Dorothy L. Kern Center where they learned about oncology, dosimetry and infusion services, gaining insight into specialized cancer care. In the afternoon, we headed to Green Bay Packaging — Fremont Division. The leadership team shared their inspiring career stories, and teachers participated in a fun challenge to see who could build their box the quickest. They also toured the plant, getting a behind-the-scenes look at the machinery and processes involved in making high-quality corrugated boxes.
