Juneteenth celebrations all about culture, community

SANDUSKY — Destination Sandusky, a program of the Greater Sandusky Partnership promoting the area, previewed next week's celebration in downtown Sandusky. "Juneteenth in Sandusky: A citywide celebration of freedom, culture and community," according to an organizational statement. "Join us for a powerful lineup of events honoring Juneteenth with celebrations across the city from June 19-22." Here's a notable schedule of events with statements provided by Destination Sandusky: Thursday, June 19 • 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4501 Venice Heights Blvd., Juneteenth Celebration by Sandusky Career Center/ Sandusky City Schools: — Free haircuts, facials and shaves — Food, fun and community connection • 6 p.m. at Jackson Street Pier, 221 W Shoreline Drive, Juneteenth Freedom Celebration 2025 — Fireworks — Sam Cooke Tribute sponsored by the Lange Trust of the Sandusky Library — Gospel and youth performances — Live community art project — Food trucks and family fun • Evening portion at Kozy's Bar & Grill, 1040 Camp St., Sandusky — Line dancing as part of its multiday Juneteenth lineup Friday, June 20 • 3–8 p.m. at Jaycee Park, Boalt and Lane streets, Juneteenth Freedom Fest Day 1 — Basketball tournaments — Music and entertainment — Food, games, bounce houses, face-painting and more • Evening portion at Kozy's Bar & Grill — C&C Ole Skool Night featuring music and good vibes Saturday, June 21 • 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Freedom Fest Day 2 at Jaycee Park — More kids' activities, music, vendors and celebration • Evening portion at Kozy's Bar & Grill — Durrty Bones Pop-Up with food, music and energy all night Sunday, June 22 • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Freedom Fest Day 3 at Jaycee Park — Family fun wraps up with vendors, activities and community togetherness • 1–10 p.m., Farwell Freedom Celebration at Farwell Street — DJ, food and activities for all ages — Parade at 5 p.m. as a vibrant capstone to the weekend "This is Juneteenth in Sandusky," according to an event statement.
