From Streak to Falcon

SANDUSKY — Ca'Rajanai Jackson decided to trade in her blue and white uniform for orange and brown. Jackson recently celebrated the end of her high school career at Sandusky Schools by walking across Strobel Field at Cedar Point Stadium. "I feel so accomplished finishing up my time at Sandusky Schools," Jackson said. "As much as I really want to go back and to replay every moment back, it feels so good to finally be done and to have such a strong finish." The end of high school meant the end of high school cheer. Jackson wore her blue and white uniform one last time at the end of Sandusky's basketball season. The boys team made school history by reaching the program's first state semifinal/final four game in the spring. This occurred after the Blue Streaks won their first-ever regional championship in basketball. Jackson and the rest of the cheerleaders rooted for their classmates every step of the way. This would include the team's final game at Wright State University. It's there where the school's season ultimately came to an end with a loss to Cincinnati Aiken in the Division III state semifinal. "It felt so unreal realizing that I can never get my high school cheer experience back and not being able to say 'Well, at least I have next year,' because I in fact did not have another year," Jackson said. But this does not mean Jackson has pumped up her last crowd. In its roundup of new squad members, Bowling Green State University announced Jackson will be on the field at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. Jackson said her mother, Rahsheeda Wraggs, has always told her to try something before making a final decision and regretting it. "My mom has got me to this point," Jackson said. "She has always kept me motivated and made sure I've always been where I truly wanted to be." Wraggs said she is incredibly proud of her daughter. "She's put in so much hard work throughout her cheer journey," Wraggs said. "Seeing it all come together in the end brings me so much joy." Jackson found out she made the team in November 2024, but the announcement was not made public until January of this year. "It feels like a relief knowing that I'm in good hands and knowing that I'm going much further in my cheer career like I said I wanted to," Jackson said. Before signing to join the rest of the upcoming Falcons, Jackson had a successful career as a Blue Streak cheerleader. She valued the time spent with fellow cheerleaders in Sandusky. "My favorite memory from my time being on the cheer team for Sandusky was the moments we had before the games started to talk and to eat with each other," Jackson said. Jackson has also made memories while cheering for Top Gun All-Stars in Avon, Ohio. "I have so many great memories from cheering with them," Jackson said. "One of my absolute favorite memories was being able to compete in different states and getting to experience being on such an intense team." Out of all of the experiences she has had in her cheer career so far, Jackson said she is going to miss the friends she has made along the way, but she knows there is more to come in her journey.
