Alleged illegal immigrant arrested in Norwalk

NORWALK — A federal grand jury in Ohio's northern district of Ohio recently returned indictments charging two Mexican nationals for illegal reentry back into the United States, one of whom was found in Norwalk. Bersain Alvarez-Lopez, 37, who has been charged with one count of illegal entry. Alvarez-Lopez has three previous removals from the U.S. with the most recent being on Jan. 15, 2019, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice. He was again found in the country on May 9, 2025, in Norwalk without the consent of the U.S. attorney general or the secretary of homeland security to be readmitted, the release states. Alvarez-Lopez was additionally charged with the following: • Two counts of possession of a fraudulent identification document: a fraudulent permanent resident card and a fraudulent Social Security card • One count of misuse of a Social Security Number "The investigations preceding the indictments were conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection," the release states. The second man, Pedro Martinez-Garcia, 28, was also charged with one count of illegal entry. Martinez-Garcia has two previous removals from the United States, with the most recent being on Oct. 11, 2017. He was found again in Marion, Ohio, without the consent of the U.S. Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security to be readmitted, the release states.
