Students pass workforce program

SANDUSKY — Ten Sandusky High School students recently received certificates for completing the WorkAdvance program. The program represents a workforce development initiative by Greater Sandusky Partnership and Reach Success to expose students to career pathways in the manufacturing sector. The program helps to equip students with hands-on experience and industry-recognized credentials. In addition to technical training, participants receive workforce readiness instruction to prepare for full-time employment. This program is possible thanks to the support of the Good Jobs Challenge, a regional workforce training system to establish industry sector partnerships to train and place workers in good jobs. The following students completed the program: • U'Lexus Jones • London Brown • Ca'Rajanai Jackson • Jayson Barnhart • La'Taja Bennett • Juelz Phillips • Lavelle Bell • Tristan Feick • Connor Churchwell • Jeigh Smith "In order to be it, you have to see it," said Jarvis Cole of the partnership. "It is important to connect youth with real-world opportunities in local industries. These career pipeline initiatives are essential in preparing students to contribute meaningfully to the region's economic future." Following completion, several students will transition directly into the workforce with continued support from the partnership's Employee Retention Program, which offers services and support for resource navigation. Others plan to pursue higher education or enlist in the military.
