District responds to racist post

SANDUSKY — Sandusky Schools officials investigated a racially charged comment allegedly made by a former employee on his personal social media page. The man, who previously worked as a substitute custodian for the district, made the post only visible to those he is friends with. Community members brought the school district's attention to the "highly inappropriate" post, the district announced on its social media Thursday night, adding that an investigation would commence and appropriate action would follow. On Friday morning, the district updated its original post after the investigation concluded. The district confirmed the man had not been employed at the district since 2021. Superintendent Dan Ramber said the district used information from social media and employment records in its investigation. Because he no longer has a connection to the schools, Rambler said the district cannot take further action. "Sandusky City Schools is committed to fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all students, staff and community members," Rambler said. "We value diversity and strive to ensure that all individuals feel welcomed and respected. Inappropriate conduct, including on social media, will be addressed promptly and appropriately."
