Book signing celebrates release of Cedar Point book

SANDUSKY — Cedar Point fans can get a glimpse of the vast history of the park at a special upcoming event. The downtown Sandusky Cedar Point Historical Museum — inside the Merry-Go-Round Museum, 301 Jackson St. — will host a special book signing event celebrating the release of "Cedar Point Memories," a new book by author James Rogers. The event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to the event is included with entry to the Merry-Go-Round Museum and includes a ride on the fully restored Allen Herschell Carousel. Throughout the afternoon, Rogers will give brief talks about his book and its content at 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., and will be available throughout the event to sign copies and meet with Cedar Point fans. The book captures the weight of Cedar Point's evolution, showcasing attractions that have vanished, such as the Space Spiral, Demon Drop, Wildcat roller coaster and the Paddle Wheel Excursion. Each photo in the book is a tribute to the park's legacy and the memories it has created for generations. "The title, 'Cedar Point Memories,' indicates that every one of the photographs shows rides and attractions that are no longer at the park," according to an event statement. Rogers is a longtime Cedar Point fan and a member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts. He and his wife, Janet Rogers, have been visiting the park together for more than 55 years.
