Fremont Mayor Danny Sanchez confirmed the two women who died are related, and a 14-month-old child currently hospitalized in Toledo and a 5-year-old still missing are the children of one of the women who died. Sanchez said authorities worked overnight in the search and are continuing to conduct "recovery efforts" for the 5-year-old child. Sanchez said the family was fishing when they were struck by the train at about 7 p.m. at the Hayes Avenue railroad crossing on the Miles Newton Bridge. Authorities believe the family was not local; Sanchez said it appeared the family was from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Sanchez said authorities believe the train took every safety measure it could have. "In my opinion, it is not common for pedestrians to be there," he said. "There are clearly marked 'No Trespassing' signs there." The mayor said authorities were not actively prohibiting anyone from fishing on the Sandusky River on Monday. "At this time I think all eyes we have on the river could be beneficial in recovery efforts," he said. "Our hearts go out to the family involved and all those who have been affected," Sanchez added.
