Libraries offering tons of May programming

MILAN — The Milan-Berlin Library District is full of fun throughout May with a wide array of special events designed to entertain and inform. For reference: • The Milan branch is located at 19 Church St. • The Berlin Heights branch is located at 4 E. Main St. Some events do require registration. People can register, see a full schedule and learn more information by visiting milan-berlin.lib.oh.us. Among some highlights with information provided by the district: In Milan • Preschool Story Time events take place from 10:30-11 a.m. on Saturdays; Kids can listen to stories, sing, dance and make a craft. It's designed for those ages 2-5. • Stay & Play from 10-10:45 a.m. on Tuesdays — The library uses music along with motor movement to engage in a fun atmosphere that encourages caregivers and children to foster early learning through play. This program will start with about 15 minutes of songs, rhymes and structured activities and then parents and caregivers are invited to stay and play. It's designed for children ages 1-4. • Paws to Read — from 4-4:30 p.m. on May 13 — Come read with therapy dogs, Daisy and Gordie, in the cozy library atmosphere. Therapy dogs provide a non-judgmental reading partner, allowing kids to practice and improve their skills with performance pressure removed. For children in grades K-6. • Untold Stories of Japanese American Incarceration from noon to 1 p.m. on May 17 — This absorbing program chronicles the double incarceration of loyal Japanese American citizens during World War II. Jolie Sheffer will share her original research, including the records of one family who lost everything but never gave up on the American Dream. • Milan's Morning Moment- The Beantown Girls from 10–11 a.m. on May 19. Start your Monday morning off right with this month's Morning Moment selection, "The Beantown Girls" by Jane Healey. Join us for a cup of coffee, doughnuts and good conversation. Copies of this month's book are available at the library circulation desk. In Berlin Heights • Stay & Play from 10:30-11:15 on Mondays — The library uses music along with motor movement to engage in a fun atmosphere that encourages caregivers and children to foster early learning through play. It's designed for children ages 1-4. • Mellow Mondays from 3-3:30 p.m. on Monday — Mondays can be tough, especially in middle school. Join us at the Berlin Heights library for relaxing crafts, immersive gaming and hanging out. For ages 8-14. • Knot Another Coaster Craft from 5-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday — Enjoy an evening of new friends, pizza and learning macramé as Brandy Frank, of Mama's Macramé, demonstrates how to make your own macramé coaster. Registration required by Friday. • Middle School Pizza Party from 3-4 p.m. on May 19 — Celebrate the end of the school year with the Mellow Monday crew. Our final hangout of the school year will be filled with pizza, cake, crafts and video games.
