Margaretta tops Willard in track

CASTALIA — Julia Berg won the 200 meters by less than a half of a second, helping Margaretta to a dual team win over Willard on Tuesday. The Polar Bears girls won 69-44 while the boys were victorious as well, 71.5-38.5. Berg won in 26.54 seconds while teammate Alayna Biehl cross the line in 26.97. Biehl was the leadoff in Margaretta's 4x200 relay win. She was back by Grace Paseka, Dani Grunden and Julia Berg as the group won in 1:52.62. Grunden picked up wins in the 100 meter (13.88) while Lillian Belak had victories in the 100 hurdles (17.72) and 300 hurdles (50.34). Aiyana Pasch squeaked out a photo finish win in the 400 meter in 1:09.39., just .04 seconds ahead of Paseka. In the boys contests, Kale Bailey won the 200 meter in 23.32 and teamed with Tate Bailey, Carter Luzader and Zack Bouy to take the 4x200 in 1:32.65. Tate Bailey also won the long jump with a jump of 20 feet, 7.75 inches while Bouy took the high jump with a top mark of 5-08. Bouy helped the 4x100 relay team take home a win. Perry McGraw swept the 110 hurdles (16.96) and 300 hurdles (43.52) while Jace Berg topped the field in the shot put (48-02.75) and discus (149-09). The Chargers took the boys dual meet as well, 68-56. Ingrid Berckmueller took home the win in the 400 meter in 1:02.19 while helping two relay teams to wins. In the 4x100, she teamed with Kendal Kryger, Mia Stover and Zoey Corfman to win in 54.37. Later in the 4x400, she, along with Grace Anderson, Lily Risner and Corfman crossed the line in 4:21.87 to take home the win. Risner also had a win in the 800 meter (2:44.63) and teamed with Anderson, Aili Corfman and Ava Gardner to win the 4x800 relay in 11:19.58. Vermilion was led by two wins from Rachel Hormel in the long jump (14-05) and pole vault (8-06). Brooke Whisenant won the 100 meter (13.21) and 200 meter (26.73). She then teamed with Claire Bartlome, Morgan Frenk and Alyssa Woodward to win the 4x200 relay in 1:52.93. Trevor Leimeister won a pair of events for the Edison boys team, sweeping the 100 meter (11.64) and 200 meter (23.91). He was also on the 4x100 relay team with Carter Jones, Wesley Seel and Shawn Rowe that won in 46.63. Seel added a win in the long jump (16-10) while also being apart of the 4x200 relay team with Jones, Colin Butler and Rowe that won in 1:43.44. Butler won the 300 hurdles in 46.25. Blayke Mckillips swept the throwing events, winning the shot put (38-03) and discus (114-08). Daniel Grisel took home the 3200 meter (10:49.24) and helped the 4x800 relay with Collin Angney, Lucky Hovinetz and Joseph Webb win in 9:11.18. Angney teamed with Joseph Webb, Ezekiel Dunn and Johnathon Brass to take the 4x400 relay in 3:42.98. Webb added a win in the 1600 meter in 4:40.81. The closest race of the day came in the 4x100 relay as Bellevue squeaked out a win in 55.05, just .01 seconds ahead of Norwalk. Natalie Littlejohn picked up a pair of wins for Bellevue. She won the long jump (15-8) and triple jump (31-8.5). Norwalk's Kinleigh Lesch won the throwing events, taking home a win in the shot put (30-9.5) and discus (115-5). In boys action, Elliot Gahring had a big day in the short-distance races. He was the victor in the 100 meter (11.79), 200 meter (23.73) and 400 meter (51.21). James Henderson led Bellevue with a pair of wins. He took home long-distance wins in the 1600 meter (5:02.67) and 3200 meter (11:29). Caden Cramer continued his dominating season in the discus, winning with a throw of 152-10. The Lakers finished with 107 points while Old Fort was second with 68.5 points. New Riegel tallied 31 points and St. Mary Central Catholic had 21.5 points. On the boys side, Old Fort won with 84 points while SMCC was second with 65 points. Danbury and New Riegel each had 42 points. Bergman took the 200 in 27.33 and 400 in 1:00.04. She helped the 4x200 relay along with Kendall Shanteau, Lauren Bergman and Zoe Uhnick win in 1:51.41. Lauren Bergman added a victory in the 100 in 14.13.
