SANDUSKY — The St. Mary Central Catholic baseball team scored five runs in the fifth inning and that proved to be the difference in a 11-6 Sandusky Bay Conference River Division win over Fremont St. Joseph at Dorn Park on Monday. The Panthers (8-5, 4-5 SBC River) trailed 4-2 going into the bottom of the third, but responded with four runs. The five-run fifth gave SMCC an 11-4 lead. Cullen Dillard and Austin Gill each tallied two hits, two runs scored, and one run batted in for the Panthers. Sam Lawrence doubled and had four RBI while Brayden Gill scored twice. For Monroeville (7-4, 3-3 FC), Tristan Wise had three hits and a run batted in while Jake Fries tallied two hits and three RBI. Landon Stein added two hits and a RBI. Ethan Smiley started and went five innings. He allowed seven runs on 11 hits.
