Arts garage hosting open house

PORT CLINTON — The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council invites the public to attend two events happening in one night. It'll take place from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at The Arts Garage, 317 W. Perry St., in Port Clinton: • Those representing the council welcome people back to the arts garage for an open house "to celebrate the newly completed building renovations, which include new windows throughout and a new (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) system," according to a council statement. • During the open house, "Guests will be delighted to view the new exhibit showcasing the artwork of Carol Luscombe and her daughter, Kathryn Kain. Guests will be able to chat with the artists and hear about their unique process," the statement read. Their artwork, meanwhile, will be on display there throughout May. The night will feature refreshments, live music, an art demonstration along with interactive art activities, a raffle and door prizes. People will also have the opportunity to visit with and learn from working artists in their studios. During this event, people can make donations to help defray the costs of window shades, and donors may contribute at the party or by visiting gpcaac.org/donate," according to the statement, emphasizing how the council is a nonprofit and solely operated by volunteers. The Arts Garage reopens to the public on May 1. Typical hours span 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays. It offers classes to adults and children. Kids from Ottawa County can go to classes and obtain instruction there at no cost.
